Don't know if any of you wonder off to the OT forum.. found this. Operation Hardhat I would advise everyone to becareful, consider Miami-Dade and Broward are going to start this up now!
Unfortunately they are legally allowed to do this shit. They can not however give you an increased ticket for being in a construction site if there are not workers actually there. I would also demand of the motorcyclyst to see the radar rading that he used to pull you over. Since he did not use one and did not actually witness you speeding the ticket will not stand up in court.
Personally, this doesn't bother me. I drive pretty close to the limits (usually with 10mph). South Florida has the worst angry/agressive drivers in the country. I'd laugh if those idiots doing 90+ thru the construction zones all got pulled over. It's about time, if you ask me. It really simple; if you don't want a ticket, drive civilized. If you have to go like a bat otta hell, go to a track event.
Of course, after saying this, I'll probably get a ticket on my way to dyno day.

Look for the Shifter ZX3 - it'll make easy work of Operation Hardhat. If you need radar also look at the SR-1.

I always thought that "they have to show you the radar reading" was an urban legend. I know in court they need to prove to the court that the machine is calibrated and working properly. I do not know if they really have to show you the reading on the spot. The cops also use VASCAR, this is done with a stopwatch. They time your car moving between lines on the road. What could you see in that situation? Any thoughts?
You can ask to see the radar reading, but the cop is under no obligation to show it to you. You can ask to see the latest calibration certificate, but again, he doesn't have to show it to you.
However, you can bring these things up when you're sitting in front of the traffic court, and if the cop isn't there to defend his actions, it could go a long way to getting the ticket tossed out. Of course, if you piss off the cop with this kind of attitude, he's much more likely to show up.
