I have a chance to possibly pick up a set of Volk TE37 Bronze perfect condition with hub centrics and center caps (thank god-lol).
Like these:
Here are the concerns:
1. my love of the black version of these aside, should I go for these since they are going to be a deal of a lifetime (almost to good to be true) I will tell you guys after I get them
2. Would bronze go well with my current setup (Silverstone, blue calipers, blue trim in the car etc)
3. they were originally a NSX setup. 17 front 18 rear with +40 offsets (I belive that is what he told me). Will that be enough offset?? I know the S needs high +numbers and given the fact i am lowered quite a bit will it work? My springs are adjustable and I am 1.5" dropped now, so I could raise it up a .5 or so to compensate a bit and i am also willing to roll the fenders .
To tie in the blue a bit more I would get the Rays or Volk blue lugs and the lettering on the wheels is blue already yay Would it be tacky or sexy???
any comments are welcome and some advice on the offset question would really help.
I am not a big fan of gold wheels on a grey, blue, or red S...but that is just my opinion. The bigger concern is the lack of offset you are looking at. You will probably rub pretty badly with that offset, even with a skinny tire. Rolling the fender might help, but it will also make your rear quarterpanel flimsy & might damage your paint (I looked into it before my current track tires & decided against rolling). If it were me, I would hold out for the right deal on black wheels with a more friendly offset.
What's the width of the rear? For comparision I am running a 18x9.5 50 offset in the rear and I rub on a 1" drop. If I had 8.5 back there I would be golden. But I tend to think that no matter what the width is, with a 40 you're going to be rubbin. See if you can get ahold of them for a day and do a test fit
Get the correct offsets Rob. My first set of rims on the S was probably 4 years ago before going with Works and I was sold something far less than optimal. It rubbed a bunch plus the rears in particular looked goofy as they stuck out of the wells a good bit. Thanks to meeting some guys on this site shortly after I was told what had happened, got into it with the place I bought the rims from, and luckily was fully reimbursed.
Sounds good guys. I was under the same impressions but the deal was almost too good. I may get these to sell on ebay or something. They are that cheap (at least cheap for what they are).
I was 50/50 about the color and the offset being so small so all I need was some respected outside opinions.
I really want the black ones with the polished lip so I can be mistaken for James (VVS) more often. You would be suprised how often that happens now.
When you guys swap rims for more tuner looking ones, what do you do about the stock 225's and 205's? Do you just put the same size all around? Also, those of you with 18's and up, do you put the tires honda suggests or opt for the ole Kuma's that most tire packages come with? P.S. I love my Potenza re750's.
Second subject.... I scored some extra cash.... anyone know what the stock hood weighs? I'm thinking carbon fiber and want to know the weight difference.
You should always keep the stagger from front to rear. On my 18's I'm running 225/45 upfront and 265/35 in the rear. Nothing beats the S02/S03 performance wise, yet I'm too cheap for them so I am running cheap tires. I'm not an autocrosser and I hardly drive the car at it's limits so I haven't had a problem yet.
I don't know the weight of the stock hood, I just know it's light. I really don't think you'll gain too much from switching to a CF hood, but they sure do look good
