My first road bike was a Giant TCR with an aluminum frame. Titanium is smoother than aluminum, as a general rule. But the manufacturers have now gotten carbon so perfected that it's the most compliant ride. Titanium is still indestructable...well virtually. But if I had only one bike to ride, it would be carbon.
