Default re Keys Trip ..stuff to do...places to stop etc ideas???

Hi

For those of us going on the 17th I thought it might be fun to start a thread on favorite places and things to do in the keys

like Curry Hammock State Park for a photo op
or the S side of Bahia Honda looking back ot the old bridge

The Lorilei for conch chowder
The pizza joint at no name key
Pepe's for breakfast.

Theres still time to get hold of the marine bio school and see if we can get a shot of all of us on their island at the end of the old bridge at 7 mile

do we have Divers going? how about a dive or snorkel charter?

or a sailing charter...riding the america is an awesome sail 9000 sq ft of sail...

I sent out an email of ideas, I'll post them here when I get home tonight. No Name Pub for pizza and The Tiki Bar on the way down are must dos. Any state park with a wet for a photo op also. Bahia will be good I think.

I use to dive, but haven't in awhile, Justin (Pop Top) dives, but isn't sure if he's going.

I've never made the drive so I'm game for anything. I'd love to swim with dolphins or go on a boat ride. Food and beer are my only two requirements.

Here's Dave's e-mail:

These are all in Key West:
Bogart's is a good Irish pub, but I am not able to find a web page for them.

On the way down I know of two places in the Keys....One is upper and one is mid Keys. In case we want to prime ourselves with some beer, two pit stops before KW.

Depending on the number of people I might be able to hook you up with a sunset sail/booze cruise (on one of the party catamarans, not the schooner America unfortunately). Also could do a barbecue/pool party at my condo if anyone would be interested. And let's not forget the obligatory trip to Teasers

How many are needed for the sunset cruise? Hey, thanks or eyeballing our rental place. It's big, we could do a pool party there, but I don't think it has a grill.

Are you free to hook up somewhere on Thursday after we get to town and get settled in?

If anybody wants to do any diving I've got a place in Marathon so we can take our boat from there and save some $$$. There are several great dive sites around there (Sombrero Light, Samathas Reef, Cofins Patch and the T-Bolt for anyone who wants to go deep ) Unfortunately I'm still not sure if I'm going yet. I requested off the 18-28 to go to Michigan with Jessie since I never really get to see her (funny since we live together now). Unfortunately my manager is on vacation (again) right now till Sat so I have to wait for her to approve the request. If she doesn't then I'm just going to try to get the 17-21 to go down there with you guys, if she doesn't approve that then I'll probably just say f-it and quit. If I don't make it this time I'll try to plan another trip sometime soon, I'm starting to go through saltwater withdrawals, I havn't been down there since March .

Make sure you guys have two way radios, we can use them on the drive and around Old Town if the girls want to split up and leave us guys at the nudie joint. Best Buy has a single (usually they are sold in pairs) for 42.00 that has a 25.00 mail in rebate, so it comes to 17.00. Pretty cheap, water resistant, picks up weather alerts, and a "5 mile" distance.

Pop^Top, you gotta do The Keys! All the cool people are going and they will be talking about all the others who didn't join in on the trip! You don't want us to talk bad about you, do ya?
