The TDI Sportwagen would be a smart choice with the manual. Lately I'm thinking about a 2005 330i with the ZHP package. Anyone have one?

I got the TDI with the DSG transmission, way better than a regular manual. It's basically a sequential manual that will shift automatically if you put it into auto mode. Not like normal automatics that you can shift manually, the DSG is the real deal -- much faster than the manual TDI as well. Highly recommended

Keep the S

Pick up a cheap daily. Chevy Blazers and the like can be had for less than $2500 now and will be reliable and cheap to maintain. For a more enjoyable cheap daily, pick up a e36 BMW. But look out for reliability and maintenance. Whatever you do, don't sell the S. You will miss it too much.

A Jetta Sportwagon TDI would be a good choice...I hadn't thought of that.

Me: go with an EVO.

My wife drives an IS250...not a bad ride either. But look at a TSX, TL, G35, etc....

I drive a Sonata which the kids will tear up.
