On the road with Chip and Jan
They're Back
Hi Everyone. Did you miss us?
After my sudden carreer transition, the 1st mate and I decided to get lost in the mountains for a few weeks. It was just what I needed. By the end of the first week I was having trouble remebering what day it was and by the second week my mind is totaly at ease. Some of you know that I was a wilderness guide up in the NC mountains during my college days. I really felt like I went back home.
About the unplugged part......The first week we spent in the Wilson creek wild and scenic river area. To get to our campsite required a 10 mile trip on gravel forrest roads FROM ALL DIRECTIONS. To get a cell phone signal required climbing a mountain or driving 20 miles. Needless to say, Internet did not exist. It was the most unplugged I have been in 20 years. I actually read a stack of magazines from cover to cover and a novel. It was great.
We mooched the next weekend at our friend's house in Hayesville, NC then it was off to the wilderness again, this time a little closer to civilization but minimal cell phone nor internet. Another novel was read.
Of course I took pictures and I hope to have them up this week. I look forward to seeing you all at our next meet.
BTW I have chosen to no longer be unemployed, I am now officially a biotechnology consultant.....in between jobs right now but with several on the horizon. It is amazing what two weeks of clean mountan air will do for the head.
It is great to be back!!!

did you bathe and shave before you posted???....I think I can smell your "wilderness" from here.
Good to have you back...when you came to the tilted kilt meet and let the cat out of the bag about your job...I could tell there was something off about you... I didnt want to pry...but you can tell when people are not quite themselves.
I am glad the trip hit the recharge button for you and that you back on some kind of track.
If you need help with anything, Melissa and I are always willing to lend a hand whenever we can.
cant wait to see pics
