I agree Vince... Mine are going bye bye after this set. I'm going with S03s or SP9000s.

With all things said about SO2's why doesn't Honda taken appropriate action to recall these tires before they become another Firestone/Ford issue. Or like everything else do we have to wait until people are killed???

 

Worn S02's do get very unpredictable under wet conditions. I'm changing mine to S03's when I get my 18's in a couple of weeks.

I am definitely changing them to S03's or a tire better suited to wet conditions. This was a lesson well learned. Some things you can't and shouldn't compromise. I haven't had too much of a problem because all of my mileage is highway miles doing the commute to Ft. Lauderdale. Now that I am moving to Miami, I have to be more careful and take more precautions.

 

I just went out to take a closer look at my S02's and you are right KeithD, there are no rain channels to displace the rain between the pavement and the tire. My tires only have 3000 miles on them.

The center portion of the tire seems to be flat and void of any tread pattern. I can see where this also could be a big problem if a tire is over inflated and driven in the rain. Hydroplaning can be a problem. The other problem with our petroleum based asphalt road surfaces in Florida is during a light rains. The oil residues from cars stays on the surface of a slightly wet road than during a heavier rain where it is washed to the edges of the roadways.
