SIGN UP DATES AND TIMES ANNOUNCED
WG - Many thanks kind Sir. Maybe we can finally get you and your S in the darn Parade Lap. Again, thanks Bill.
Jim - Out of towners are absolutely welcome. Many SoFL owners have participated in years past, as well as, all over the rest of the state and beyond. If you have a super clean S, can be there for all days (If you're a Parade Lap participant), and can abide by "the rules" set forth then you're good to go and we welcome your participation. For the most part we have always had the majority of the participants from the Tampa/St. Pete area because that's where the race is so they tend to be more apt to sign up because it's their backyard. That and the obvious time commitment if you're in the "Sweet 16".
Chip - you da' man and I look forward to finally chillin' at the RV one of those nights and learning about martini's
Brown - roll bars only DQ you for the Parade Laps not the Decal Program. I will need to defer to Rob on the logistics since he's handled the sign ups for the last couple of years but I would think if you ended up making the "Sweet 16" you would simple be bumped and the next car would move up, etc. Same if it was my car. I really wanted my wife to be able to be in it since she hasn't been to the St. Pete race in many years, long before me (she grew up down there) but even I am DQ'd and there's no way I'm unbolting Hard Dog's gorgeous work for this. Been there done that in the 1st year (5 years ago), it was an absolute blast so I defer to you on whether you uninstall or not.
Chris - great to hear from you. It's been a while. I do see the upside to your methods and will discuss with the team (Rob in particular) but we've always done first come first serve. Hate to stir to pot but I have no sympathy for those that signed up on the wrong thread after it plainly said, as it does with this thread too, this isn't the sign up thread. So, again I see the benefits of a lottery too but not a big fan. This way sort of rewards the die hards that are on here, keeping track of the threads, and doing everything they can to make this a great event. It's those S-owners that we want.
EVERYONE - Also remember last year that at the last minute the "Sweet 16" got bumped up to like 18 if I remember correctly. Ask anyone that's been involved with this over the years...in particular Rob and myself, things will happen FAST the closer we get. Cars drop out, people get bumped up. HGPSP decides they want to add two cars days prior, they throw in a meet-and-greet, a photo shoot, whatever...stuff happens without a doubt.
So...gentlemen (and ladies of course - Go Danica!!!), start your engines..it's that time again so let the fun begin. I have a supply of Prilosec ready!!!!
Scott - sorry, I was typing while you were posting. Again, I don't disagree completely or anything but I'm personally not a big fan of lotteries. I like the idea of rewarding the early birds but also realize many of us are working our butts off more than usual to make the same money. I've been up and at'm anywhere from 2:00 a.m. to 5:20 a.m. all of this week and this is the first time I think I have been off before dust. Then again as soon as I finish this post I'll be working on an RFQ for a 300 employee company to do all of their benefit plans. Is what it is and lucky to be working. It's ugly out there as we all know. But I digress...let's say we'll keep the idea under advisement and in my book majority rules so let me get with the team and we'll get'r done.

I think the lottery/raffle system is a great one (no cost, but only one entry per car)... it'd be sweet to have a small central meet where the names are drawn, so that the drawing is public for those who can make it to it, and that is about as fair for everyone interested as it can be... and its another reason to have an s2k get-together... haha!
My thoughts anyway

what weekend is this? ill have to see if i have off work or can get off work for it.

Sorry I am so late posting to this thread.
Here is my take on a couple of issues:
Lottery system looks good on paper and a great idea to those not compiling lists, checking pages and pages of threads, double checking and rectifying lists, and then drawing names and trying to confirm participation.
Logistically, we are at near critical mass each year already with coordinating what we do with the people we have.
I can speak clearly for myself and say: I am not willing to take on the herculean task of trying to do a lottery system with this little amount of time we have. If we got all the particulars set in stone 2 months ago...maybe, but not at this juncture.
IMHO, the system has always been and should always be "first-come-first-Served"
If it is agreed on by shay and Barry, I am going to specify an after work hours (for most) time for this year
