Willie, Is that vented into the cabin or are those fans.
I have never been a fan of subs in trunks sealed off from the cabin. Too much sound loss, license plate rattle, and all you get is the thump. I do like the idea of porting a box in the spare tire area into the cabin behind the pass seat. I was looking at 3 Jl audio woofers in a ported box.
I have a 8in JL audio sub in the pass floorboard, also removable for long trips with a passenger but since 99.5% of the time I am by myself, it rarely comes out. Sounds great though.

In cabin subs IMO are ideal, but due to the space limitations I went with a trunk sub.
The hole in the convertible tray fufills a dual role. It enables the amps to run cooler by allowing the fans to blow the hot air up and away, and it "ports" my trunk. My system is ridiculously overpowered, so the amps never get too hot anyway, and when the top is down the "port" is pretty much covered by the top. But IMO still sounds better than if i had not cut that hole.
I prefer the sound of an overpowered sealed sub than the sound of a ported one. I'm not trying to win any bass competions, but i do like a powerful low end when listening to music. The stereo in my S2K is not the best stereo I have ever heard, it pales to most properly set up home systems; but for a car, esp a convertible it is more that adequate.
Some dynomat behind the license plate will take care of that rattle, and dynomatting the trunk and doors will also help prevent rattles. If you take a wooden matchstick and force it into the seam between your convertible tray and center console you have a cheap temporary fix to the convertible tray rattle. The worst one IMO.
The setup I was looking at was pretty trick. It would be three 6in JL Audio subs with a unusual porting setup to come out the vent area behind the pass seat.
I agree with the over power principle. One of my amps is a JL Audio 300x2 for a set of component 6.5s and tweeter. Talk about over kill. That is only turned on for car shows.
Your setup looks great and I'm sure Brian's will be badas_ also. He doesn't do anything halfas_. I should send off my block now to get it sleeved for when he might need it.
