Default Stolen S2000 cars

I bought my S2000 in july and have been new to this forum. The one thing i dont get is why all these people get their shit stolen and people dont get car alarms or seat locks or anything like that. If you can afford to buy a car that is pretty expensive.... why do people not get $400 alarm or seat locks that cost like $65.00

Then you got these people that get their shit stolen and after that they get an alarm or seat locks ..... are people just dumb ??

You, Gatorbait, are preaching to this choir. In the words of one junky I once heard, megadittos!!

You are right on! I honestly think that there are more $2000 Civics with alarms than S2k's with alarms. It should be everyone's first "mod".

Just my opinion,
Thraak

I have never heard of an s2000 with an alarm being hit. Def need the proximity sensor too.

I firmly believe that sometimes it really doesn't matter if you have an alarm or not... If someone wants in your car, they want in your car. I honestly think the best protection is have the car in the garage. If someone wants to slash your top, an alarm won't stop them. If someone wants to scratch your car, an alarm won't stop them. If someone wants to throw a brick at it, an alarm won't stop them. Proximity sensors are great and all but 2-3am in the morning, when that proximity sensor goes off, the damage might have already been done...

I'm speaking from experience! I may not had a fancy dancy alarm system on my car at the time, but they did slash the top, manage to prop the hood and disconnect the battery and shut everything off. I did have seat locks and I was fortunate that they only stole the steering wheel and damage to misc areas.

These guys are professionals and know exactly what they are doing... To all you people who say if my proximity alarm goes off, I'm going to get my gun and shoot them.. problem is, who says they too don't have someone hiding by the door with a gun... Is a car really worth dying for? Is a car worth more than your family? Is a car worth risking everything for? My point is, if you drive a nice car, put it in a garage. Yes I know they can still get in a garage. But it's the simply the best protection! I have learned, you have a nice car, keep it garaged and still have an alarm!

I guess I might be dumb!

I park in a garage at home and at work I park next to a department store with a security department that has cameras on parking lot. Not that they will stop anyone from messing with my car but they would at least have it on video.

Hardtop and seat locks here. Not sure if I need an alarm or not, but I'll probably get one anyways sometime soon just for piece of mind.

Alarms are a good idea ... but my insurance covers theft and damage. If my seats are stolen and the top is slashed ... that just means I'll be getting new replacements for about $500 (deductible) With that being the case ... i almost look forward to the seats being taken
