That sux H.B. I can see if you were paying for lunch, or a T-shirt. Charging for a group drive is not right...We do our own for free!

Are you sure there wasn't a misunderstanding...here is a list of events with prices:
Friday, April 02
5:00PM - Check in at Holiday Inn Summer Bay
7:30PM - Barbecue Dinner at Hotel (Holiday Inn Summer Bay) - $15

Saturday, April 03
9:00AM - Group Drive - $0
NOON - Lunch at Diamond Players Club - $15
2:30PM

Yeah, I know one guy who just bought a t-shirt and the drive was free. I agree that the list of prices showed the drive was $0, like it was last time I went.

I just bailed early too. Oh well. I didn't know if I could make it until the last minute and thought I was welcome to attend. Two years ago I was able to spend a few nights when it was in Howey in the Hills. It was nice to see eveyone and their cars. However, I guess I won't likely come next time, if I can't commit to a paid activity or t-shirt that makes the drive $0 like it said..... and like it should be.

So much freakin' FUN. A bunch of really great people and spirited drivers.
Now, I sleep, to dream of a few select turns on Lake Hancock Rd. and the roaring sound of Vtec.

G'night all, and have a fun safe Sunday Drive!

Dear Hygiene boy...

As one of the organizers of the event, I think you should understand that the drive is PART of a weekend of events. Yes, there is no charge to drive on public roads, however it is not fair to the other participants and to the people who put in hundreds of hours to organize this event for you to show up and expect to participate without paying a cent. Essentially you expect something for nothing. Sorry, we don't have a huge corporate sponsor, tons of money, or millionaire parents.

There is also liability associated with group drive of any sort. We need you to register, sign our waviers, and be covered under our insurance policy. You may think that it is trivial, but I can tell you from experience that it is not. We had an S2000 crash last year. Had that involved another vehicle on a public road with a death or an injury, there would have been significant financial penalties for all involved.

In my opinion, $25 for a T-shirt (had you registered in ADVANCE) plus all the comraderie and fun meeting a group of S2k and NSX owners is worth every cent. We have done absolutely everything to reduce the cost of this event and saved every dollar where we could. It is your attitude that leaves a bad taste in the mouth of all who have VOLUNTEERED to do this event despite their busy schedules.

In this instance, hygiene boy's argument is irrelevant. The Supermeet was a private event. Money was exchanged between parties beforehand for the lunches and dinners, for the t-shirts, etc. If someone doesn't have the admission fee, they should not be able to get into any of the pay events nor should they reap any of the material rewards: t-shirts, party hats?

I didn't realize this as I attempted to join the "$0" group drive. In retrospect it was a good thing that I wasn't able to catch up. I would have been as bewildered as hygiene boy upon being asked to pay to tag along on a public road. This should have been made more clear in the information page.

I take offense to Mr Wei-Shen's "bad taste" remark, however. When this event becomes cheapened into nothing more than a twenty five dollar t-shirt, it is the event organizers who leave a bad taste in the mouths of everyone who came and everyone who worked this event in the search of friendship and solidarity with all NSX/S2k owners.
