No one expects a first-timer to burn up the track. Just come out and have fun with your car. Most people learn alot about their cars and themselves their first time out.

We all start somewhere.

Here is a bunch of "bloopers" from my first year of autocrossing.

No SCCA card needed.

You just need a drivers license and a car that is in good working order. (safe)

You don't have to have chalk, but many people use chalk to determine how much air they should run in their tires.

They put chalk marks over the part of their tire where the tread meets the sidewall. After making a run or two, they see how much chalk has been scuffed off.

If there is still chalk up on the tread, they know that part of the tread isn't touching the ground enough to remove the chalk and the tire may have too much air.

If the chalk on the sidewall part of the tire is getting scuffed off, that tells the driver that the tire is "rolling over" onto the sidewall and probably has too little air.

OK another question. How many runs can I expect to get in? After this event I will be out of comission for at least 6 months due to back surgery. So I want to make it worth it. I may actually come out on sunday as well.

You'll get a couple practice runs on the training course in the morning. Then a couple more full course in the afternoon. To get tokens for more runs, you work the track as a cone tender in between runs. Depending on the crowd, sometimes you can run more if it's light.

I would go to the novice school the first half of the day. There are no timing lights but you make run after run after run.

If I had to guess, I would say at least three to six, maybe more. And thats before lunch.

After lunch, evryone will be on the practice course, and that has timing lights. You get two tokens when you pay in the morning and those are good for one run each. (on the practice course) Then as stated above, you can work the course for about a half hour and get two more.

It keeps going like that until no one wants to work the course anymore or 3:30-4:00 ish.

Also, we do have loaner helmets, but if you have your own, go ahead and bring it.

See you there!

Borrowed a helmet from a friend. Will be in attendance, and willing to lend a hand tending the course. Whatever that entails.

On another note who's coming down? I'd like to put a face to some names. I'll be ni the sebring silver with black ap1's w/ blue lug nuts.
