Tampa Area CO Voting Here!
Let me preface this post by stating that I am posting this as one of three people who are being voted on as the new CO. Both Ron & Billy would also make great CO's and no matter who is voted in the community will benefit. I offer my support in advance to either Ron or Billy should they be selected and not me. May the best man win!!
This is just a few thoughts and ideas on what you can expect from me if selected as the new Community Organizer for the Tampa area.
First let me say Rob has done a superb job and trying to take the reins from him will be difficult for who ever is selected as the new Community Organizer. In addition to Rob he had help, support, love, & guidance from Melissa (the Neck). As you all know they have opened their hearts and home to this community and deserve a " Big Thank You" for all their dedication and hard work.
The good news is Rob & Melissa remain a part of this community and will be involved. In fact Rob will remain the point man with Shay for the SPGP, our communities biggest event.
Here are some of the ideas I have for meets/events, some are new, some are things we have done or currently do:
1) Wake the Dragon: Annual trip to Deals Gap North Carolina to Wake the Dragon usually in April.
2) Beach Run: A casual drive from Tampa to St. Armand's circle via the beach roads, early December.
3) Quarterly meets in South Sarasota to meet up with the members from the SW Florida area. A chance to meet more of the members in this area and hopefully assist/encourage them in organizing more local meets on a regular basis.
4) Light House Tour (possible overnight event)
5) Test & Tune Day at a local dealership.
6) Wine Tour
7) Charity Events (Toys for Tots, Muscular Dystrophy, Support MADD, etc.)
8) Sebring Track Day (Thru Skip Barber)
9) 12 Hours of Sebring (Group attendance)
10) 24 Hours of Daytona (Group attendance)
11) Indy 500 trip (Group attendance)
12) NHRA Gainesville (Group attendance)
13) IRL Homestead (Group attendance)
14) Host the Florida Super Meet
15) USF Homecoming Parade
16) Local High School Football Homecoming parades
17) Local Parades, MLK Parade, Christmas Parade in PC, St Patrick's Day Parade Brandon, etc.
18) Go Karting (monthly, quarterly)
19) Detail Day at a local detailer/or by a mfg of detail products. (I know Meguiar's will sponsor a clinic)
20) Scavenger Hunt
21) Chili Cook off
Regular Meets: Weekly Regular meets to be rotated between popular venues like Quaker Steak, Channel side, Moes Brandon, Tijuana Flats or some other locations.
Obviously input from everyone within the community is essential to keeping and growing what Rob and others have built. Like Rob had previously stated we are all Co-CO's and I agree with that approach, we all have things to contribute to the community. I never thought when I purchased my S that I would meet so many great people and have so much fun. I believe I can help the community grow and keep it fun but not without the help of everyone within the community.
Thanks, Barry
