You can not chip the ECU, it can not be flashed ither...sorry You can how ever use a piggy back set up such as Apexi's VAFC or Gready's E-management, or you can go all out for stand alone like AEM EMS.

.02 is two cents i believe. An expression meaning that he wants to add his thoughts to the discussion.

i don't think he want's to chip his 02, after all he owns a 2005. A rather sick one so it seems.

Thanks for the offer Ben. Willie, I have a Fujitsubo exhaust. Will I have to remove the cat?

Willie - I can't wait to hear your car after the exhaust upgrades. I "helped" using the term loosely, install Bryan's header so I'm familiar with that piece. I don't recall ever seeing a Mugen exhaust with such a gorgeous polished finish so you've peaked my interest. Plus I don't think I've ever been in an S with a test pipe so look forward to hearing more about that as well. Some more stuff to add to the "wish list." Gotta do the track safety stuff first though.

Shay

Jerry - You don't have to remove the cat to put in a header. Lbsypher is running the Rick's header, the OEM cat, and then an exhaust.

+ Bens response = Huge guffaw from me.

That is classic miscommunication right there LOL

I can see where ben misread it but it ended up funny as hell.

The discussion has been covered quite well. I have nothing to add (as usual). Sound like Rick's is the way to go unless you can find a good deal on a J's

shay's right.

you don't have to remove the cat. but if you want some more gains, and you've got the car up, the exhaust and the header off, you may as well. Test pipes aren't that pricey and the majority of your hp gains will be had by removing it.

A common problem with running a test pipe is the CEL turning on. This can be resolved cheaply by the following mod: el cheapo 02 sensor I did it and it works great. just make sure to tighten it or it will rattle and hum to the point of annoyance.

Where could I find a test pipe? Besides emmissions, what are the downsides?

I got the Spoon header... I hardly noticed a difference ( although a untuned VAFC2 doesnt help ). Installation is cake... you dont need a lift.

just make sure you do something about the 02 sensor that usually goes into the Cat. Check the link i posted earlier, otherwise you'll get a CEL.

I'd look on the FS boards to see if anyone is selling one used. that's where i got mine, and it works great. (it's basically a tube so it's not going to wear out or anything) Ask about the angle of the 02 sensor bung, the more horizontal the better. A lowered car can loose the bung quite easily if not aligned properly.

hope this helps
