Default Too many miles?

2005 S2K
Probably pay 18ish...
58,000 miles...

Any downsides to a higher mileaged car? To me, a car with this many miles so young almost has to be highway, so you'd assume clutch would still be ok. Also, I won't put as many miles on it, so in 3-4 years it will have 75ish, probably near the norm. Looks like I'm saving 3-4K over a lower mileaged car, but i'm not going to be cheap if it is at a cost. Comptech Blower may be in the future as well, so take that into consideration..

Thoughts?

it's a Honda ... mileage is less of a concern for me. I have put over 70k miles on mine in less than 2 years. But, i can tell you that i've driven mine HARD and i have had no issues besides the common ones (timing chain tensioner ... and thats it)

Yeah, i'm a hair concerned about long term resale even though I'm going to put less on it..

But as I said, this car may see a comptech and will definately see track days...

High mileage on a 05 HAS to be highway...

if you're after a strong resale value i wouldn't be driving at any road events or installing a blower on it. Both will cause any general consumer to hesitate.

Also ... my 70k miles have mostly been backroads. I know i'm not the norm when it comes to driving time ... but, i actually did use it for work which had me driving from Ocala to Auburndale to Deland several times a week ... and there are very few 'highways' in those areas. Again ... my situation is rare ... but i wouldn't worry about it either way considering it is a Honda.

Also, according to CarFax the one and only owner owned the car for 23 months, meaning this person drove a LOT...

Maybe I'll go look at it then, it's possible I guess. I did the math, and this owner was doing almost 90 miles a day, which means an oil change once a month... wow...

Depending on the owner , how it was driven and maintained . My dad puts miles on his cars and NEVER maintains his truck . he does not drive hard at ALL but the filter ,both oil and air do not get changed . Are there service records ? dont trust carfax have it loooked at by a bodyman or car painter for paint or bodywork . I have seen cars that after 3 months stuff pops up on carfax .

if it has been taken good care of, then you'll have no problem. Got my 01 at 50k and drove another 50k in 18 months and compression was almost perfect at 100k miles. No issues except fuel injector and spark plugs. even the clutch was fine!
