Now the pirates are threatening to kill anyone they come in contact with. The US Navy needs to start escorting these ships, just charge the shipping company a fee for protection, or stay away from Somalia all together. I still think the Navy did the right thing by killing these ass holes...

hats off to the captain for doing his duty to his crew

hats off to the seals and sharpshooters for taking these TERRORISTS out

...they were terrorists not pirates...pirates is an archaic term for what these asshats were behaving like.

The word pirate too often brings up images of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom fighting for what is a just cause in a somewhat unsavory manner. Pirate has come to mean some kind of romanticized view of what are traditionally a murderous and terrorizing band of scumbags...

Ask any seagoing captain what they think of "pirates"

BTW there are currently hundreds of crew and dozens of ships moored to costal docks in africa right now that are being held for ransom by these pirates....its a crying shame that their respective governments cant or wont do anything about them....

Pirates are terrorists plain and simple. they should be treated as such.

there should not have been even 2 minutes of conversation with these ding-a-lings....Remove them from the planet and destroy any ship that carries them

Ships carrying cargo in that region have a responsibility to protect them selves too....They claim astronomical insurance rates and fees to emply a security contingent on thier ships but our Navy cant be the escort service of the seas either so they have to foot the bill for their own protection.

Maybe if the ship owners blew a few pirates out of the water the practice would cease or be curtailed quite a bit.

"Nothing on this ship is worth your life"

That sign, hanging off the port and starboard sides of the ship, should make the "yo-ho, Yo-ho"'s think twice

LOL

my goodness... can you imagine seeing 3 heads explode right in front of you. i mean it would totally be badass if they were holding you hostage but then you'd have brains and stuff all over you.

Of all the social groups to take a similar approach ... India! They just finished an issue similar to this and even endangered/killed some of their own people in the effort. But, apparently they have yet to see any reality in the threats since (about pirates killing the crew/captain sooner).

The US military is great for this ... but, should NOT be the default. Insurance regulators must see an opportunity for them to reduce overall losses by allowing at least a handful of crewmen to carry weapons. I bet Blackwater and others are approaching this subject as we speak.

Those shipping companies need to hire BLACK WATER to protect them, they'll shoot at anything that moves in the water even a humpback whale.....

Old black water, keep on rollin',
Mississippi moon, won't you keep on shinin' on me?
