Default West Coasters -- Finalize your plans

Smokingdog, RedBlur, and Joser have contributed time and talent to make our West Coast meet an enjoyable experience.

Now it's time for you to do your part:

1) Plan ahead
2) Mark it on your calendar
3) Overcome any excuses
4) Blunt any criticism
5) Bring your spouse/gf (or make certain they're shopping with someone else's money)
6) Make the commitment. If Troylmer and Fltsfshr can make it there from Naples, we all ought to be able to make a showing.

Summary of the event:
Sat., March 1st
4:00 p.m. Meet Grillmarks restaurant (map in other thread)
Embark on a caravan through beautiful Bellair Beach/Clearwater Beach
Photo opportunities along the way
Eat at RedBlur's Grillmarks restaurant

Now that you've decided to come, go to the following thread and sign up:

You'll be sorry if you don't join us ...

Thanks for the map! I've been in that area a few times, but don't recall much detail. Are there many opportunites for our group to get split up on that route? Hopefully our group can all stay together, if not, if we lose someone, are we gonna pull over and wait? Looks like it's all right turns though, so hopefully it won't be too hard to stay together.

I'm looking forward to it!

How about doing the next meet at some place like Boca Grand? I've only been there once, but loved it. I need an excuse to go again!

Dave, of course with more of us, there is a chance to get temporarily split up. The route is pretty simple though. It starts by going South on Clearwater Largo Road to the well marked intersection at West Bay Drive, turn right (west). Follow West Bay drive all the way to Belleair Beach. There are a couple lights on West Bay but there are a few spots to pull over if necessary. Once you get to the beach, turn right on Gulf Blvd and head North to Sand Key Park - it is just before the bridge leading to Clearwater Beach. Be forewarned - the Belleair Beach section is usually a good area to test your radar detector. So far no problems staying together. We will try to park together for some photo ops at Sand Key Park before leaving to go over the bridge to Clearwater Beach. Once you go over the bridge is where it may start getting crazy and there will be minimal (none) chances to pull over and regroup. You turn left at the first light after the bridge and that will take you along the South beach area for plenty of bikini sightings. I expect traffic to be heavy in through there but keep going until you pass all the hotels and the large parking areas on the left. The road takes a 90 degree turn to the right and you come quickly to a light. Go left and proceed into the infamous Clearwater Beach Roundabout. Stay to the right (outside lane) and take the first exit to leave the beach - East on Rt. 60. Again, very heavy traffic is expected to be leaving the beach and 60 is under construction as you approach the mainland, where they are putting in a new bridge. After you get on the mainland, keep going straight up the hill and I believe the second light after you top the hill is Ft. Harrison Street. Turn right (south) on Ft. Harrison - through downtown Clearwater and several lights. Eventually the road bends left and the name changes to Clearwater Largo Road. About one mile or so after it straightens out should be Grillmarks on the right.

Its going to be a nice drive and not much chance of getting lost. The most important turn not to miss will be the right on Ft. Harrison, and the streets are well marked there in downtown. Chances are along Clearwater Beach, Rt 60 and Ft. Harrison we may get separated due to the number of intersections, traffic and lights. Just keep heading back to Grillmarks and we should all get there within a few of minutes.

Sorry everybody for this being so long. If I have totally confused anybody PM me for help.

Venom and Bradenton/Sarasota/Venice group -

I'll be arranging a mini-caravan up to GrillMarks from the B/S/V area. Instead of using this public forum, I'll contact you via your other email addresses with the details.

It looks like we'll have two more cars from the Bradenton/Sarasota/Venice area attending the March 1st meet.

Steven, that is great news. Perhaps our Smokingdog can add the names to the listing on the other thread. Can't wait to see the reaction to our caravan when we get to Clearwater Beach.
