Default WHY

Just an observation, How come the Florida Sub-Forums are named Jacksonville. Tampa, Orlando and then South Florida, not Miami? South Florida sounds too United nations like....I understand not everyone is from Miami but most of the people that post are, anyways, I think this Sub-forum should be called Miami. Just food for thought...

It was once called just Forida before a split about 5 years ago. The CO's and community demanded that it to be South Florida as opposed to Miami because they wanted to include events and friends from West Palm, Naples, and the Keys, as well as other surrounding areas.

Not everybody lives in "Miami". The people in Broward, like myself, live in S. Florida.

we debated this issue ad-nauseum when the big hammer fell a little while ago.

the reasons why the other areas seem so specific is that the areas between them are virtual "no mans lands" and the names you see are the most easily identifiable by the people looking for regions more than specific cities.

South Florida has the bulk of the population and so many specific areas that Miami as a name just would not cover the region effectively.

if we disect the areas any further, the admins are afraid that the earth will open up and swallow the whole forum.......not really but, the issue has been flogged for months during the restructuring process and any more debating/editing at this time would produce drama on an unmeasurable scale.
