Thumbs up Would Americans feel comfy......

buying a car from a car company that is bankrupt?? I'm just curious. Personally, I would not. It just dosent sit well with me. I'm not asking whether or not we should bail them out. Thats been beaten to death.

The answer depends on whether the bankruptcy was to reorganize debt or to liquidate assets. The uncertainty with converage for warranty items would likely keep me from buying the car if the purpose of the bankruptcy was to liquidate assets.

Hubby and I are actually debating that very question. Unfortunately we're selling the Speed 3 as we discovered it's too cramped afterall. We've been car shopping and are debating over a Lexus 330 or a Cadillac SRX, used.

The SRX isn't retaining it's value well but we could get an amazing deal on it and it's a good car. We the full moon roof (as will lil Angus), can get more car for the $$, and it fits our current family and a growing one.

The question remains, do we take the chance that they'll stay in business and honor the 100, 000 mile warranty? Or do we pay more $$ and get the Lexus?

Can you get aftermarket warranties over there? some of these are pretty good in the UK and can be had for a reasonable price, they cover most that the manufacturers do.

You'll be fine with the SRX. Even if GM files for bankruptcy, the warranties will be honored.

I feel the GM makes the best stuff out of those three but this has been a long time coming, you keep making crap products and people eventually stop buying them, it's not rocket science
