When was the last time the car had a tranny fluid change? Are you using OEM fluid or other? HAs this recently become a problem or been like this since you have had the car?

My be the clutch plate as well. Would have to touch/feel it for myself to give you a better diagnosis

that's normal..i think... during the winter, every morning when i move my car out of the garage, my s did have the same problem, 1st to 2nd..after i revs up or couple mints later, every thing is fine...

but in the summer, is pretty good, no any problem happend like in the winter...

1st & 2nd are a little heavier than the rest but shouldn't take noticeably more effort shifting in summer.

Echo what 8Ball (Mike) said: tranny fluid could be heavy gunk (like in winter) & need swapping out. Another possibilty is that the clutch might need bleeding...

A quick group diagnosis, & fix or referral back to the Dean Team, sounds like the right plan of attack. We'll all have to drive your car tho' to give it a full assessment so that we can agree on what the issue is

Bring OME MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid - 2 qrts), Oil (my opinion is syn) 5.2 qrts, Diff fluid 1 qrt.

My opinion is that you get:

Oil/filter - Mobile 1 or Royal Purple
Tranny OEM - MTF (If you get anything else, the is a high risk that you will still feel the "nothcyness". Racing or syn MTF's are design if you track your car, but if it's your DD, I would prefer OEM
Diff Fluid: LE-607
Is also recommended that first time you change ALL washers as well.

We can change all three during istall day and get you a good baseline. You have to be there early.

Any change with your shifting response?

perhaps your first & second gear synchros are mashed (?)

If you find no improvement after fluid changes, I recommend taking your car to Ed Napleton for an inspection.
