annoying acronyms
I just got the service manual for my '02 S2K and it was immediately obvious that the only tool I'll need to work on this thing is a cell phone. It would be nice to be able to have some understanding of how things work but the acronyms they throw around in the manual are very confusing. I guess if you worked around these cars all the time the various abreviations would be second nature, but for us newbees it is daunting to say the least. Does anyone know of an index of these acronyms for the S2K? I have started a short list of about 40 such as: DTC=diagnostic trouble codes, HDS=Honda diagnostic system etc. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Does this help at all?

I wasn't able to come up with much either. This is the list of S2K abreviations I have compiled so far:
ABS=anti lock brake system AGC=????
AIT(ATI)'air intake temp APP=????
APR=air pump relay CKP=crankshaft position sensor
CLV=calculated load value CMP=crankshaft position sensor (TDC)
DLC=data link connector DTC=diagnostic trouble codes
EC=electronic controls ECM=engine control module
ECT=engine coolant temp. sensor ELD=????
ELD=electrical load detector EPS=electrical power steering
EVAP=evaporative emissions FTP=fuel tank pressure
HDS=Honda diagnostic system HID=high intensity discharge(headlites)
HO2S=oxygen sensor IACV=idle air control valve
IAT(AIT)=intake air temp. ICM=ignition coil module
IGPLS=ignition coil pulse IMO=imobilizer system
MAP=manifold absolute pressure MES=memory erase signal
MIL=malfunction indicator lamp OBDII=after market scan tool
PGM-FI=programmed fuel injection PCV=positive crankcase ventilation
SRS=supplemental restraint sys. TDC=top dead center
TP=throttle position sensor TWC=3 way catalytic converter
VBU=voltage backup VSA=vehicle stability assist
VSS=vehicle speed sensor
VTEC=variable valve timing and lift electronic control
VTM=VTEC rocker arm oil pressure switch
Hope this list is of some help to someone. If you can add/delete/correct
please feel free to do so.

Most Service Manuals for any year have some these acronyms listed. If there are some specific ones you need, I'll be glad and look them up.

8BALL...Thanks for taking the time to list all those acronyms. Very helpful.
Most of my other shop manuals list the abreviations in the introduction and then go on to use dozens of other ones that aren't listed. WTF?
I have run across a few more in the 2000-2007 shop manual that I can't find any definitions for:
AGC=?,
ALTL=? (this is mentioned in section 4-35 and probably refers to the alternator), APP=?,
IG=? (section 4-35 probably refers to the ignition system),
SCS=? (section 4-24).
Sure makes for a better understanding when you have some idea what these mean.
Thanks again.
