Yes sorry... Axle Nut!
Do both sides if doing one. You already will have all the tools out

Just got back from Napelton with 2 axle nuts in my hand. Anybody that has a torque wrench for this job aside from Jim? And a socket?
Edit:I performed a search but could not find the ansewer to this, Does the car need to be on a jack or can I leave it on the ground?
Thanks!

No planned time yet, Hopefully Jim can help with this on Sunday but that is not a set or planned date as of now.
Edit: Rehile, I know you stated you just wanted to tighten the existing nut, but with axle nuts costing $2.70 its probaly worth replacing them. It is recommended not to re use the axle nuts altought alot of ppl do.
We are also going to need some grease to apply to the half shaft(cv shaft, axle) threads and on the face of the bearing. Anyone have a recomendation on the grease that should be used?

Sorry people didn't see this post, I have a 36MM impact socket 3/4 drive, I have a torque multiplier which
which will do 720ftlb with a standard torque wrench(4 to1). If you still need them PM me...Pete

Pete - you da man.
Don't know what's happenin' for sure yet. But after some more reading, I saw a "Billman" post stating that new nuts are NOT necessarily required (a trusted super forum moderator). I'll try the extra torque, first, on the existing nuts.

FYI - based on multiple threads, this fix can be a B!TCH w/o a long breaker bar/socket or a good air (or electric) wrench with high torque.
If jimmij is still thinking to offer his expertise, tools, car lift, and SUPER GARAGE, the job should be "easy".
p.s. I read that the car does not need to be lifted to tighten/replace the axel nut.

I have a clicking noise as well coming from my car. If everyone meets up to do this I would love to join in.

in hosting an impromptu ~less-than one-hour fix? (assuming we coordinate and arrive on-time...) in the near future?
