Default Crash.....

Hey gateway chapter... This is a dark day for me and "Haruka" my S2K. We all knew of the horrid weather that recently happened and I was out when it happened. Yup, heading down on 40 east I hit a magical spot on the road, hydroplaned, spun around and hit the median... I have full coverage on my Honda obviously, but it tears me up inside that my pride and joy is going to be out of commission for awhile... I'm hoping that from the pictures people can give me some input.

I called my sister after the accident and I got picked up, and now I sit at home broken... The S2K is sitting at Huey's Honda right now, and tommorow my father and I are going to negotiate more on the situation...

Gateway members, pray for me, and my car... I hope everything can be taken care of, and as my sister says, things will turn out for the better...

Thanks everyone,

-Jojo

I was also talking with someone on the 600RR.net forums and they said if the subframe is messed up they'll probably total it. From the pictures, do you think the subframe is messed up? I don't quite know what that is, but I pray that it isn't.

JoJo.. Thanks for the call last night letting us know you were OK. Hope your head is doing better this morning. Glad to ghear no one was seriously hurt.

Am unable to tell from the pictures if there is frame damage or not. If seen worse that were fixed. I have also seen less damage and the car was totaled.

Below are some links to bodyshops in the area from other peoples misfortunes:

NOT to get you down any more than what you are now.2 years ago some guy backed in to my s2000 right near gas tank lid.i demanded that the left rear quarter panel be replace and the bumper replaced with a O.E.M bumper.it did right around $4000 worth of damage.i also took my car to SUPERIOR LEXUS in KC,KS.they met all my request on my car.it looked better when it came out of the body shop, than when it went in.me peronally i dont trust these small independent body shops.i speaking from peronal experince.i would only trust someone that works on higher end car ,like lexus, bmw, benz etc.im KC not ST LOUIS.just remember if you have your insurence pay for.if the total of the estimate for repairs excedes 70-80 % of the value of the car ,it s a total loss. that is your is worth apx lets say 17000 being a 01.just hope the repairs dont go over $12000.then you might have the option of buying it back.thats with a salvaged title.if 8ball gives you a suggestions, then he knows what he is talking about in the ST LOUIS area. just a lttle food for thought.im no expert i use to do paint an body work many years ago.hope the best for you .

Just curious.. I thought a car been total lost in a accident, then DMV will label that car's VIN# as a salvage title. If insurance company not decide to buy the car from you, how come he have the car get fix but still with salvage title then

See 8BALL's post for links. My unibody frame was bent. It was totalled immediately. I cannot see from your pics, was the top up? Is it "warped" or "sagging" anywhere? If so, then your car is twisted (i.e. totalled).

Glad to here you're okay?

You can still get the car fixed with a salvaged title,it will be at the owners expense.then its real tough to resell with a salvaged title.then he can always keep the car an part it out or turn it in to a full time track car .that is if he is into that?.i had a CELICA GT that was fully customized about 15 years ago.ok granted someone hit me,i kept the car an got some cash from the other persons insurence company.it all depends on local an state laws pertaining to this kind situation.oh of course what his insurence companys policy is also.insurence company are so eager to total a car out now a days,i think because of liability issues.ive seen so many card on on trailers an at wrecking yards.that did not look that bad.i dont know your guess is as good as mine.SACHICOS2K if would let me know what happens with you car,far as your insurence company goes.the info im going off is. info i knew years ago.i know rule an regs have changed since then.okk thanks

Hey Jojo,

I had a brand new S2000 damaged from a tire tread. The damage was pretty bad but Huey's Honda is the best in town and if your car is fixable they will do it right. Talk to Rodney Francis.

Unfortunately, I ended selling my beloved S2k, not because of the wreck, but because I needed a sports car that could accomadate a baby seat on occasion, thus my 89 911 carrera.

Best of luck and regards to all my friends on this great board.

V9.

Yo JOJO-
Any update? You're okay, right? (cars can always be replaced -- even if it seems expensive).

Hey all, I'm back! Thanks for all the supprt and well wishes! My S2K has been at Huey's for the last month, and I recently took a visit to check on it and it looks like a damn brand new shiny car! I'm so stoked since it'll be ready by the middle of next week.
I talked with Kermit and Joe about it, and they gave me a thorough description of what they did, and it was great to know my car was in good hands.

I DID have to replace the rears that were blown, and it turns out the tires were wore down to the treadbar, so I had to put new ones on. I replaced them with Kumho Ecsta MX (225/50ZR16) which came from a friends STi. They were in good condition, but I don't know if I should shoot for replacing all the tires. I don't have the money to replace all the tires yet, but as a temporary solution I think that this is all I can do...

I need to find some parts though, I need a new shift knob since my factory knob is turned weird and it's kinda scratched up. I also need exhaust covers because the accident scratched the bare tips a bit... So if anyone has any leads or anything, PM me!

As soon as I get the money, I am in the market for new wheels, preferably from 5Zigen, Motegi, or Konig. And a wing spoiler... I know, I know. I really like the spoiler on the MCR S2000 and the Amuse S2000. So.....

Anyway, thats the update! Thanks again for the support, and when I get her back, I'll make sure to tell you all. I also would like to MEET all of you good people too.
