Red face Detail Day

Our April 16th thread got a bit out of control so it has been closed to allow us to focus on the issue at hand: Detail Day!

Date: 04/08/06
Time: 09:00 am
Place: Jimmij's (goggle his address from our membership list )

To date we have the following that are planning on attending:
jimmij
8Ball
hondassport
rolsinski
4wheelVFR
rpstl (to assist)
jlabeaume (maybe)
d-j
Kschmied (maybe)

I would like to do an engine compartment cleaning on MY01 and I believe there were some others that were interested as well. Please bring supplies as outlined in the previous thread. Jimmij... If you have some cardboard, that would be great. I'll bring a crappy drop cloth as well.

I have also purchased the 3 step Menzerna polishing kit and some new pads we have previously used. Some of you are still warring the original coat we did more that 6 months ago and can attest to the results. If you are interested in using this product again, feel free but there will be a $15 charge. The kit has enough supplies to do about 5-6 cars.

Also.. Don't forget to bring $3 for lunch (For those of you that have had Kelly's desert before, $3 is a excellent bargain).

See you all on Saturday. Weather is going to be sunny and in the high 60's - low 70's

Mike,

My black paint could really use the "3 step Menzerna polishing." Sign me up for that one. What should I bring? PC & pads?

Thanks,
d-j

Yes... PC and Pads would be great! As far as the pads go... you will need a componding pad (usually Yellow or Orange) These are the more aggressive cutting pads. A polish pad (usually white or black) and a finish pad (usually red). Each coat will need it's own "cutting strength".

If you don't have these, bring what you have. I've pretty much got what we need. We will probably have 3-4 PC going at once. We determined last time that an "assembly line" job works best with these multiple coat polishes.

I'll have to check what condition the pads are in. I have the black and maybe 2 white pads. The black one is getting pretty old or at least overused.

I've never used the yellow or orange! White has always been aggressive enough for me.

Where do you get your pads? ProperAutoCare? (http://www.properautocare.com/porcabpolac.html)

YUP...

Check your e-mail. I just sent you an excellent newsletter.

You can start with white. The orange or yellow pads are aggressive, but do an excellent job with existing swirl marks and minor scratches without the needed elbow grease.

oh its the EIGHTH! Well then, count me in like flynn!!!!

All I need is the exterior... interior's taken care of (mostly ), motors taken care of etc, so I need a nice bit of swirl mark remover, i need Mike to hop in the back and polish up my window and if anyone's got some top cleaner / conditioner laying around, I wouldn't mind that either ... damn fools at guranteed dent removal **tried** to buff the paint after they pulled all the dents... yeah it didn't work out too good

I really only have some NXT wax, meguiars show car glaze and some tire shine... i can bring them if anyone wants to use em.

As of now, I got until about 3pm or so... but im working on switching to a later shift so I can stay longer. And YES! I will have cash this time!

I'll hop and have the cleaners and conditioners you need. It's gonna cost you extra to have a 'Mikes Window Clinc' done on your car to get results such as this:
