Good shop/mechanic?
I have an MY00 S2K that sat for about a year and a half while I was deployed overseas. A friend of mine recently started it and noticed a tapping noise. He disconnected the plugs from each of the cylinders, and found that it was coming from cylinder 4. The noise went away when he disconnected that plug. After a lot of research (and youtube videos depicting the sound which I have heard over the phone), I'm pretty sure it's scoring on the cylinder wall. I will be coming back and moving to the STL area (going to ship the car) within the next few months, and I'm planning on resolving the problem. Can I resleeve the block, or do I need an all new block? What are some good shops in the area that could do this? Thanks for the help.
If it's going to be more than $4-5k, I'll just give up and sell it as-is.
I used to post here a lot under the username MD06LBP, which I seem to have lost the password and email associated with it. Used to live in MD, had a MY06 Laguna Blue, had to sell it when I joined the military. Bought the MY00 in 2008, and it's sat a lot as I'm always gone.
