Default Newbee headlight question

Hi Friends
I am still trying to learn everything I can about my car. My question is about the headlights. They are extremely bright and different than other cars. Tell me about these cool headlights. Are they a special type? Thanks.

They are a very special headlight. They are called HID, which stands for High Intensity Discharge. Since they have a 25,000 volt capacitor as a ballast. They require the extra juice to turn them on but once they are on, they use less energy than halogen bulbs. Think of them as a big LED for your car. They are also very expensive. A new ballast costs around $200 and a new bulb costs around $300. These will last a lot longer than a halogen bulb as well. If you want more info, use the Search button on the site and search for HID.
