Not Satisfied with Ed Napleton
EDIT: Resolution at the bottom
I brought my car in today to have the tech ride with me to verify the clutch buzz. I had an appointment set for 2:00 PM, and off we went. After he heard the sound, we came back and another service advisor said they'd have to "Diagnose" the problem. At first I was weary, since all American Honda needed for consideration of the TSB was verification of the problem and a quote for repair ( which is all in the TSB... don't know why they'd have to re-quote it ).
After talking to Dan, mentioning I'm a member of gateway S2000 and shaking his hand, he tried to charge me $96/hr for diagnostic fee. It was only after asking an unsuspecting tech if there was a different fee for diagnostic than hourly labor rate and finding out there was NOT, that I got dan to reduce it to the sponsorship rate. So, the tech is diagnosing it, and out they come to get me.
Some how... some header mounts are unbolted and some wire harness mounts ( looms ) are cut. Now, they say with 95% certainty that THIS is causing the buzzing. Oh... and let me mention that this is after I saw the tech who was "diagnosing" my car, RIP off down the otter road high in vtec, and AFTER I complained to the service advisor about it.
So its in the bay right now for "About 2 hours" getting the header mount back "in" and some new wire ties to keep the harness "off the exhaust piping which is causing the buzzing"..... sure.
I have to say, that so far I am VERY un-impressed with the service here. Only time will tell but even if the events of today turn out alright, I highly doubt I'll be coming back, even IF they're a sponsor... so far... the only thing they're sponsoring is their wallet with my money.

Update:
After the two hours of labor, I told them that I wanted to drive the car instead of a tech to see if the problem was still there. Sure enough, the clutch buzzes the same as before. gee... who would guessed?
So after being out now about $200, nothing is fixed.
OH... also, theres a paint chip and scratches on my passenger side fender that WEREN'T there before I brought it in. While the tech says they put fender protectors on it, I never ONCE saw a protector on it. And I was peeking out the service window a WHOLE lot.
I let my dissatifaction be known about how I TOLD them it was the clutch, but still insisted that it was the "wire looms" and now, how I'M out the money for it, out of the chance to drive my car on a beautifull day, and theres a paint chip AND scratches on teh fender, as well as greasy finger prints all over it. I decided to leave it here overnight so that Dan can see the damage in the morning and call American Honda. If / when the TSB is fixed under good will, I will NEVER come back to Ed Napleton again, and even thought they are our "sponsor"... I encourage every other S2k'er to stay far away from this place.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
I took the S over for a safety check to Ed Napleton recently. They asked if there was anything else I'd like to have checked. I mentioned that the heating/cooling fan makes a slight whispering noise, and that it may need lubrication. The attendant mentioned a diagnostics test at (I think) $92 per hour, then said it wouldn't likely take but a few minutes. I thought this was a little strange and dropped the topic.
Passed the safety check and left. The car was park around front and the odometer seemed okay (no joy riding). Also, the exhaust is fairly audible, so I heard them pull it around (no VTEC).
I suggest another talk with Dan, for your sake!

It was $96/hr. Same as standard labor rate. And after talking to the tech's, there is absolutley NO difference between "diognostic" rate and "labor" rate, so if anyone still has the courage to go to Napleton, which I highly suggest they don't, don't let them con you in to paying the extra $26 / hr for anything,.

It's unfortunate that you had to go through this bull. Your story is the worst yet, but you are not the first that has had a complaint about Napleton.
I will call Dan in the morning and will have a talk with him and make sure that he understands that our group is unsatisfied with their service. I will also make sure that I point out some of the details in this thread as in my opinion they are unacceptable, but I need to hear both sides of the story. I'm sorry to have to also tell him that we will begin to look for other sponsorship elsewhere, hopefully to approach Leta this year.
Getting as sponsor is hard work and very time consuming. Unfortunately, I am the only one willing to give up my time for the group to go out and seek them. Some help is always appreciated.
