I'm guessing it was the salt on the road. That stuff gets powdered and acts like graphite. Glad you and your sister are okay. Keep us posted on your repair progress.

Sorry to hear about your crappy day. Glad you and your sister are OK. Fenders and Axels can easily be replaced.

Sorry to hear that, I've been there but not to that extent. Heres my story:

It was during the state fair and I was going to get my hair cut before a few friends and I were going to road trip up to Chicago (I live in Springfield remember). I was doing about.... 40 in a 45 because it rained earlier in the day, and the roads were slightly damp. Enough to glisten a little. I came up to the T-in-the-road stoplight, and slowed down, but I had the green arrow to turn. So I braked down to around.... 10-15, and pushed the clutch, in, and shifted into second going around the corner, since my rpm's would be about... 2000ish. I get nearly all the way around the corner, and ease out on the clutch, and the back end breaks loose, and my starts hydroplaning sideways, but still with a slightly forward moment.... And all I see ahead of me is a guard rail (Thankfully, because on the other side is about a 20 foot drop). I try to correct while applying the brakes easily with the clutch fully depressed, and there is nothing I could do. The hits the guard rail doing about.... 5 mph. Car basically got wedged between the asphault, and the bottom of the guard rail...

Ended up having nearly my entire front end replaced. Both fenders, bumper, hood, radiator support, one of my headlights (Other was untouched), OEM lip, Radiator, Air Conditioner Condensor.

I know what it's like man, it hurts Hope everything turns out ok, and like posted, atleast no-one was hurt.

Sorry to hear the story. If you need any help with the replacement parts post it up. Its not very hard to assemble what was damaged.
