Red face S2000 Meet of the Midwest - Spring 2007

S2000 Owners & Enthusiasts START YOUR ENGINES

It's time to start a role call for the S2000 Meet of the Midwest - 2007. This year Steve (CUL8ER) has offered to sponsor the event in Kansas City to allow some additional neighboring clubs such as Iowa, West Kansas and Nebraska to join in. Hopefully this will also allow additional KC and Okie group members to join in as well.

Follow the Nebraska, Iowa, West Kansas S2K'ers thread posted in the KC Community. We have seen light posting from the Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska S2K owners which is a positive that there is someone else out there.

As we agreed in our planning meeting, this event will be 2 nights/3days long for the Gateway community. This works well for us for multiple reasons.
  • We are not rushed to get there
  • Can spend more time with Friends
  • Take in the sights of KC for an additional evening
  • No rush to get back home
The Gateway group is also planning on doing one night in the City

Steve has offered to sponsor a BBQ at his house on Saturday Thanks Steve. Steve lives about 25 miles south of Kansas City which so we have not yet decided to stay 1 or two nights in the city. My vote is for two

Plans are all still in the works, however, we need to get a better feeling on the group size looking to attend so we can work out activities, accomidations, meal arrangements.

As far as timings goes... well that's hard to say, but highlighted below is a best guess itinerary:

Saturday 5-5
  • Head out to KC. Not many windies and twisties between here and there, but I'll see what I can do.
  • Check in to Hotel
  • Meet up with group for BBQ
  • Attend evening of activities, such as Karting
Sunday 5-6
  • Meet up with main group for main Run
  • Have lunch with meet & greet
  • Head town town early to enjoy one night out
Monday 5-7
  • Head back to St. Louis - plan on being home by 3:00
Decent Hotels downtown run around $150/night. Some Hotels recommendation I would like us to consider:

Around $150/night
Hyatt Regency Crown Center - 5 star for around $150
Sheraton Suites Country Club Plaza - 4 star for around $159

Around $100/night
Best Western Seville Plaza Hotel 3.5 star - $105
Radisson Hotel & Suites Kansas City - City Center 3.5 star - $110

Under $100
Wyndham Garden Hotel - Overland Park - 2.5 star -$65
Courtyard by Marriott Overland Park Convention Center - 3 star $79

So... Check your calendar and post here if you want to attend. Confirmations need to be in by the end of the month so reservations can be made. Also let me know if you will have a passenger and how much you would be willing to spend for the hotel

<-- Count me in fo sho!

A couple of suggestions...

1. If we do karting, let's do it on the second day (Sunday, May 6th) rather than the first day (Saturday, May 5th).
2. Pear Tree Inn off I-435 and Metcalf in Overland Park... the only place I've found in that area with a parking garage... and under $100 per night.

The multi-car-player driving games are super fun at Dave & Busters!

would highly recommend visiting/eating in the plaza that night which is a short drive from the Union Station area...
BBQ - must have KC BBQ!

How about Fiorella's Jack Stack (round the back of Union Station) for dinner then a kruze to the Plaza?

Not forgetting Town Topic for breakfast
