Saying hi
So I figured I'd say hi to the local group. I'm chris, a possible s2k owner in the near future. I've been involved in the local autox community for the last 7 years or so. I know TheNick even if he doesn't want to admit it but I'm not sure about any others on here. I'm currently behind the wheel of a STi and a miata but I'm looking to ditch both of these and get myself into a s2k. Right now I'm still looking around and trying to get behind the wheel of one to make sure it's what I want. So if anyone wants to let me drive thier car lemme know. I've owned some pretty nice cars but I have two four doors right now and I only need one and the miata just doesn't really do it for me. I don't fit in it very good and it's just too dang slow. Turns good but I'd like more power. So that's why I'm looking into the s2k. Anyway that's all for now.
Well I drove two this morning. A white one at Dean Team but I think something was wrong with the clutch. When I tried to shift decently hard to second it slipped for about half a second or so before the RPM dropped and the engagement was really low. The second one was a red one at Plaza with a hardtop and clutch felt pretty good and about the same as my Subie. I'm really gonna have to try one of my friends car cuz I couldn't really drive these anywhere that I could get a good feel for them. But the lack of power is pretty substantial compared to what I'm used to so I need to get it on some open roads with a few twists.

The white one at Dean Team is an AP2 and AP2s have a delay on the slave cylinder... that could have been the delay you experience.
If you are looking for a torquey kind of car, then you might want to cross the S2000 off your list. The S2000 is all about a well balanced car (50/50 Front to rear) + hpr to weight ratio. It's pretty fast on the road course (twisties) but you'll have to keep the the revs up in the mid to high end of the powerband. Alternatively, you could get an S2000 and throw in a super/turbo charger if you want high horsepower + torque.
Good luck in your search and please don't trash too many S2000s while test driving them!

concidering I've had an ITR and an Elise, I don't think I need the torque. The STi is the first really strong car I've had. I sold the Elise and my 01 Subie RS to get the STi cuz it was a four door. Well now I have another 4 door so I don't need two of them. And they were both AP2 it's just that one felt really good, and one not so good. And I'll try to take care of the S population in the St. Louis area.

Hope that one of those two work out for you. As Jimmy said, this group is pretty knowledgable and can help you with most of your questions.
