The insurance company should be responsible to repair/replace the parts to bring your car back to it's previous state. I don't know how much arguing you can do to get completely new bumper if they think the existing one can be repaired. Perhaps you may be able to argue that the repaired bumper is 'not as safe as' a new bumper (?). Were any metal fastener parts bent or damaged?

Yep,

I ended up having the whole car repainted because they couldn't get the color right after several attempts. Make sure you check the color under indoor light and sunlight to be sure its right. Insurance paid for some extra blending to the adjacent body panels and we asked the paint supplier to "donate" some extra paint because they couldn't get it to match either. I think I paid an extra grand out of pocket but I was worth it IMO. I had them add some extra metal flake to the mixture or whatever the reflective sparkling stuff is.

Good luck.

I think it may have had someshing to do with the fact that the AP1 yellow (Spa) is different from the AP2 yellow (Rio). I don't know if this is really what happened, but I suspect that they may have first attempted to paint the repaired sections with Rio instead of Spa not knowing that there were two different types of yellow for different model S2000s. However, I'm pretty sure that same shop that did Enrique's car rpainted another local's AP2 front bumper Spa instead of Rio... and it was quite obvious, even from a distance. So the first precautionary measure you can take is to make sure they use the correct paint code: Y-52P (AP1 Spa), not Y-65P (AP2 Rio).

You're extremely lucky that the guy came and fessed up. Word of advice tho: quit parking in the street... especially when the streets are frozen!

You'll loose that argument right off the bat as the bumper is plastic.

I do agree with Jimmy that plastic is the harders to repair and paint. You probably have "Spider Cracks" in the existing paint job now from the impact. They would need to sand the entire are to bare plastic, reprime and repaint. By the time that work is done, the coist would be about the same as for a new bumper (IMO)

k well the car still isnt in the shop becuase they are taking there sweet time. but as of right now i have a check for 617. unless the shop finds more things wrong and than i could get more.

a new bumper costs 250. im thinkin about using the money to buy apt front and rear bumpers and just doing the work myself.lol

what do you guys think>?

As long as nothing underneath is damaged, it should not be too hard. We have taken off and put on front fenders before. This would be a 1st for the rear, but it should be easier than the front.
