Default St. Louis Bodyshop Evaluation

Recently, a lot of us have had the need for bodywork and have asked that age old question on which Bodyshop to take their car. So what better way to build a knowledgebase of Bodyshop experiences we all have had. Post your Good/Bad experiences here.

Of course, for a lot of us, Greg's is at the top of the list. So let start there.

My family has had multiple fixes done there. They did great work on a 99' Eclipse, 95' Altima, and a 00' Focus. All of the vehicles seemed to be repaired properly and paint match gets a

Greg's Car Care, listed above.

Just picked up my bumper from them today. Did a great job, The paint match is not perfect but very close. No orange ripple, atleast from what I can tell. I would go back.

My experience with Greg's has been ok...

They've painted my rear bumper on the Prelude with a bunch of orange peel. Paint doesn't match since I didn't brought in the bumper without the car. But the quality of the work other than that was good.

On the S2000, they repaired and repainted my rear bumper. There was orange peel again and the repair job was ok. I just noticed that the paint is cracking on the passenger side so I might go see them about that.

They also fixed my rear fenders thanks to a botched fender rolling job. I had to bring it back to them a second time since the first time wasn't perfect. The second was much better but still some flaws here and there.

They painted my front AP2 bumper which was pretty good other than a sloppy job around the black vent holes. I had to retouch it myself.

On Ali's Prelude, they repainted a rear aftermarket spoiler and a new bumper. Both came out really good other than orange peel.

One thing that bothered us (Ali and I), we were charged more than the original estimate and quote even though we took the time to have them look at the work needed before time. In Ali's case, the cost was double than the original quote...

Would I go back there again? For a new part to be painted? Yep... I would just make sure they wet sand the part so there is no orange peel. To repair or repaint a part? Not sure... but the prices are pretty decent though.

I just had my front bumper touched up after someone in my garage scraped along it. It was a pretty simple repair and they did a good job; the paint matched perfectly and it looks like nothing ever happened. They charged me exactly what they quoted me and were helpful in taking me home and picking me up, etc. They do a lot of work with Enterprise which is why I chose them (Enterprise won't pay a huge amount yet they require excellent work). I would definitely go back.

Please never take your car to:

Schaefer Autobody

or

Jumpers Auto Service

I had a horrible experience with Schaefer recently, where they sublet the mechanical work to Jumpers. Jumpers not only failed to fix the car, but in fact broke things that were perfectly fine before they touched the car. When I brought the car back in to get fixed at their cost, they just ended up breaking more things that were not broken, and then charged me to fix them again. When they were done, the car was still not fixed correctly, and I had to do the rest of the work myself.

No bodywork done, only paint....
My experience with Greg's was less than ok. Price was high, too much orange peel and some large imperfections.

Did a better job on the paint and they were cheaper by almost half.

I had body work and paint done on the rear-quarter and driver's door at Greg's Care Care. They were prompt and courtious. The color match was perfect. The body work cannot be detected (the lines are like new).

Off-topic a little - My first, the MY03 AP1 suzy blue, was determined to be totalled at White Auto Body. Customer care there was nice. I was very happy with their body work & paint job on our old Dodge Durango.

Avoid Hueys Honda. They told us our Integra "wasn't worth" paiting, but didn't know it was going into a magazine the following year.

West County Autobody on Lindberge between shuetz and Page. Ron is the owner and did a great job on our integra after it was smashed when we first moved from CA to here.

Complete Auto Body in Dellwood, on West Florisant road and 70 did my BMW after my son "modified" it for me. Not the best area, but great work and 100% satisfaction! Not afraid to make modifcations or put after market stuff on in place of the original boring fenders or bumpers.

Based on the feedback we have gotten from you about Greg's, as well as, a lot of us taking our cars there, I've decided to approach them for a sponsorship. Greg was more than willing to give it a shot, but needed to talk to his Dad about the level of sponsorship we would receive.

All-in-all, the conversation was very positive. We would get discounts on all body work, paint, and repairs. We would need to do an event at their shop to draw a crowd on "special event days". He would also like to make our vehicle available for "fittings" or as a "model" used as a guide to repair other S's. I will be finalizing the deal with them later in the week.

More to come.
