Default Business Question

Hey guys,
Just out of curiosity, if you had the option to go into an online retail business, what sort of items would you choose to sell to the public?

Hmm, that's a tough one. If I didn't have a lot to invest, I'd try to get in some specialty line. Nothing bulk buy if you know what I mean. Larger online stores will always have better prices for bulk buy stuff like electronics, food, etc. I'd try to find a niche market and cater only to those people (ex. S2000's ). Once you get that established, expand to other related but individual markets, i.e. civic tuner market, rx-8 tuner.

I'm not saying I'd choose those options, but it's just an example. Pick something that's hard to find and specialize in it.

Hey, I just started this... www.clonemotorsports.com

I do online (and some local) retail sales of performance parts for imports... I also do car audio stuff too. The website isn't up yet, but will be by the first of the year. I already have everything setup, from licensing and tax I.D.s, to distributors for parts and audio equipment, as well as credit card processing and a web designer.

I have an emissions station up in Acworth where I spend my days working... I fill nitrous bottles there as well as try to sell some parts here and there..

If you're interested in going into business together... email me at clonemotorsports@hotmail.com and we'll talk.

-Scott

If your planning on making lots of cash well its going to take a few years unless you get everything drop shipped. With overhead you tend to spend lots and lots of cash ... some months you make no cash some you can make a little here and there

Good luck

Try and get as much of it drop-shipped as possible. Barring that, you're going to have to invest in inventory, control and storage of it, etc.

As for what to sell? Really depends on who you want to market it to. Car parts can have a decent markup, but there are lots of sites doing that already. Actually, there are a ton of sites doing most things already so, once you pick a product, you're going to have to seperate yourself out with customer service and marketing.

Word of mouth (text of web?) is what will make or break you.
