They have a US number (or atleast they say they do). You have to register your product with the site first though (www.ati.com)

Then click on "contact ATI" option toward the top of the page underneath customer care.

Then, in the first section under "phone ati" choose customer care.

On the left side you will see a list of options in red, select contact information, then select contact ATI. USA will be one of the options.

As I understand it from the site, you have to be logged in to use it though. So, register, then log in, then follow those steps. Hopefully it will take you to a US number or atleast an 800 number that you can call toll free.

i called them and after being on hold for about 40 mins finally got through to a techie. He told me to update the bios and set the AGP aperture to 256mb. If that didnt work, call them back today to work on some more options. Well, updated the bios and changed the AGP aperture..... NOTHING. Same thing, so Ill be calling them today to see what happens.

Something I noticed wierd was even if i raised the resolution, my FPS stays the same. Isnt it supposed to actually DROP if my resolution is raised?

My VERY LAST resort for buying anything anything for this CRAP machine is MAYBE a new power supply. Im currently running a 300W power supply which may not be enough for the 9800 pro.

300w should be plent if all you have is one hard drive and a video card. Of course, power supplies are relatively inexpensive. I wouldn't think that was it though.

Have you check exactly what programs are loading on boot? Run the MSconfig and try to disable everything that you know you don't need. Hell, uncheck everything on the startup tab and then try to run the program

Also, I'm assuming you're using atleast an 8x AGP slot for your video card and not a PCI or slower AGP.

well i'm using a 300W power supply for a hard drive, the video card, and 2 cd roms....
Before I run CS:S i disable EVERYTHING that may be using resources...and I mean EVERYTHING..the only icon Ihave in the system tray is the volume control...

Also,
what did you mean exactly "atleast an 8x AGP slot for your video card and not a PCI or slower AGP."? I placed the card in the slot that my 9200 card was plugged into. But everything reads 8x, in the control panel and Bios....

It sounds like you have your card to only refresh at a certain rate.

Like if you go to your display properties: go to settings: Click advanced: then go to monitor: then see if you can change the refresh rating to a higher number and see if that helps. Mine is at 60fps which I believe is the standard.

alright. its NOT your RAM.. obviously. its not your pc. its not your card. its steam itself.

i've clocked a 9600xt AND a 9800xt before on steam CS and got the same exact framerates you are getting... I have 2.8 P4 w/ 1 gig of corsair ram.. about 50-65 normally.. and 30's in firefights...

im running at the highest settings possible with the exception of AA anf AF at 1280x1024 (?) LCD native...

soooo... there it is.. any people can say all they want that its me.. but funny.. I play 4 other online games, 2 of them FPS and get almost 80-90fps constant with zero lag. the OOONLY game that gives me probs with frames is steam..

if you notice.. each time they do an update... the amount of system usage steam uses changes, thus affecting your gameplay in different ways... one day we will be able to play without steam in the background... ahh the good ol 1.5 days.. but until then... thats the crap you gotta deal with.

hope this helps.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the help...I checked and am sure I have the video card card plugged into the AGP port....so i guess its not that....

My monitor refresh rate is at 75...when i go to advanced settings under monitor, it says the highest is 120 but under the other tab i can only select 75 as the highest....so i just left it at that...

Ive just come to the conclusion that my processor isn't strong enough...i MIGHT upgrade to the the amd 64 but then I would need to invest in a new mobo as well as new ram....good grief...
