A couple of years ago, after a track day, I changed the oil and found a ton of gold flakes in it. I ended up swapping in a new engine, but I took the old one to a shop where a friend of mine worked to figure out what went wrong. They tore it down and suspected a failed thrust bearing (this was a while ago, so the details are a bit fuzzy). Unfortunately, my friend left that shop, and once he was gone, they refused to reassemble the engine. So now I’m left with a engine block and a box full of parts.
Long story short: I’m looking for a reputable shop in the Atlanta area that can inspect the engine, determine if it’s rebuildable, and—if so—put it back together for me. The engine I swapped in back then is now starting to have issues, so I’m trying to decide whether to rebuild the old one or just go for a K-swap.
If anyone has recommendations for shops that are good with engine rebuilds (especially ones that don’t mind working with a disassembled engine), I’d really appreciate it.
Allenbuilt. He was the builder for Inline Pro. He builds most of the record setting Honda motors. You can find him on Instagram. I wouldn’t go anywhere
Basic rebuilds are 3k something. I had him build a 2.4 stroker for not much more. There’s really nobody better out there.
