Running with the Boxters!!!
Guys and gals, I have been contacted by the Atlanta Boxter Club to team up with them on a few drives and a track day event.
Anyone intersted please post your reply. I will update the thread with more details as they are received. See the other thread that SMH_Atlanta posted in our forum.
If you want to sign up for track day, post here and let everyone know then email SMH_Atlanta directly. Their website is: http://www.atlbxtrclb.com.
The cost for the weekend is $300 for both days with an instructor. That may sound expensive but I think it is a good price when compared to other tracks.
Also, anyone from Club S2k Atlanta is welcome to join them on thier mountain drive on April 21st. The drive is starting at the Starbuck's coffee house at
Northpoint mall (Mansel and GA 400) in the morning. Contact SMH_Atlanta and post here (so others know) for the exact meeting time.
Regards

This is actually a good deal, sure it is $300, but that is nothing when compared to what these driving schools normally cost. The boxster website kept giving me 404 errors so I dropped them a email for more info. I will post if I get it. I would be happy to go driving with some of those guy...maybe I could even bring along my neighbor in his Audi TT...
diskmann, I checked the website earlier today and no problems maybe something happend after I was there. I'm sure they would love to have the Audi. I'd like to see it also.
I probably won't do the school it this time but will make plans to participate next time. I'll be there for club support though and to see the other cars run.

Well $300 is and is not a lot of money for what you get - a world-class racetrack with instructors, fire/Medical (1 fire truck/1 Ambulance), tow truck, 15 stations with corner and pit workers. (That alone costs over $15,000.00). We offer the instructors a discount so we do not have to charge the same price as the Porsche Driving Experience or the Panoz Racing School.
However the biggest advantage and bang for your buck is We offer almost 3 hours of track time EACH DAY. That comes to 50 bucks an hour for track time (you can not even beat that at Andretti Speed Lab)
(LOL) We do this by limiting the number of cars and groups... If you were to attend a Porsche Club DE in the Atlanta area, (Which is a good thing, I do any DE I can get into) you get 2 to 2 1/2 hours of track time for $285.00 for both days (not a lot better price for less track time)
I hope my post is not taken in a bad tone, it is not meant that way at all-- Just thought you might like to know what the 300 bucks are getting you! And try and convince you that it is worth it b/cmore is better (UP TO 80 in this case)
I think that the Boxster and the S2000 are 2 of the best Sports cars in the world -- come on out and learn how to drive them --SAFER, FASTER, and SMOOTHER then you ever thought you could. A DE is a "Safer" environment to run the car faster and squeal the tires, then on the streets but it is still dangerous -- the FRIST PART IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, SAFER is what we are after! And I must post that a DE IS NOT A RACE!!!!
Again, I hope to have you all join us!

I agree, $300 is not bad for that much track time. I have been up to Road Atlanta several times with the BMW club when they do schools, but unfortunatley, I could not participate, except for touring laps. The BMW club does not pay for the extra insurance coverage that covers rag tops. And they charge $350 and I think that the drivers get less track time. If my schedule permits ( I should know before the end of the week) - count me in.
hope you can make it -- One of the reasons we started the club is because BMW and Porsche clubs will not pay the Insurance -- We did and will as long as we keep having full classes!
Again hope to have you join us!
