Question SNAKE!

As I was walking to my car today, I noticed a snake crawl under it. I ran to the shed to grab a , I mean a hoe to try and kill the snake. Well upon getting back to the car I spot the snake under the front driver's side tire. "How do I get him out," I asked myself. So I got a piece was metal to try and lure the snake from under the car. The snake spread his head and then headed toward the front of the car; I head and grab my hoe to kill him. The problem is he never shows up in the front of the car! Since my car is lowered a little I can see both sides of the car and my sister is around back of the car. The snake never made an attempt to crawl from under the car. "Where did he go ," I ask myself. The only conclusion I came to is that he must have went up in the motor. So I started the car and still no exit by the snake. Anyway by now I am running 15 minutes late and just drive the car back to work and never saw the snake. I hope he does not attempt to make an appearance while I am driving down the road, or crawl in the dash or AC unit and die!

I was told it was probably a puffer which is non-harmful! I just do not want to have it visit the car while I am driving.
