From www.nissandriven.com Nissan's new 2003 Frontier Open Sky, which debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in January 2002 will be available at Nissan dealer's this fall, builds on our innovation in truck design. Featuring a power-operated top that retracts with the touch of a button, the Frontier Open Sky is designed for individuals who enjoy the outdoors and the open-air feeling of a convertible.
I'm on my 2nd Nissan V6 4x4 KingCab. I had an '86.5 and now I have a '95. As much as I love the truck, I just can't warm up to the design of the new Frontier. The front-end looks to be made out of Rubbermaid materials. I guess I'm too much of a classic truck kind of guy, I like a steel bumper.
Mechanically I have been very pleased. The '86.5 had over 268,000 miles on it when I saw it last and my "new" '95 has 98,000 miles. Great truck. And yes, that is one killer sunroof!
Triple H, if you go to Indy and the USGP this year, make sure I know about it! We're putting a group together for the trip and renting condos in the same subdivision to facilitate better partying... more S2000s=more fun!
Those soft top sunroof has been around for years! I used to have few older 60's VW beetles and with those type of soft top and the Older VW buses has a huge openings with those type of tops. I think the old mini's and few other older cars have the similar type of sunroof before the metal (and glass moonroof) ever hit the market. There are also many body shop will install those roof in the car if you want. I think it's some where aorund $300?? And that was few years back.
I don't think they seal too well, plus dirt can get into the gaps between the rail and the rollers (racks)!
