John, in the beginning, plasma used at higher altitudes were having all kinds of problems. That's been addressed. Burn-in is no more than a myth when talking about new plasmas. Yes, you still need to "burn" them in the first 100-200 hrs to ensure that you don't get image retention. I had to do that on my previous RP HDTV.
As for the Samsung feature switchability, I read that it is not able to be toggled while I perused through the 'net for possible replacements. Trust me, if a cheaper product would have met my needs, I would have opted for it.
i did consider flush-mounting a DLP or such as the bathroom could stand to lose a foot or two of width. I then could have gotten a bigger screen. In the end, plasma won out. I feel comfortable in my choice.
Now I just have to build a 6" riser to accommodate the backrow seating.
