No. A trailer is a type of manufactured home. There are a variety of pre-assembled or panelized homes. Some are boxes that are then "stacked" on site with just the final touches put in place. Some are structurally assembled in a factory but finished on site.
There are some very good arguments for factory built homes and, in general, they just have a bad rap because of the poor quality they used to have and the association with mobile homes.

Trailers=Fail more than anything. A cardboard box would be better built.

My engine is getting oil thirsty again. Forgot to check the level for a couple weeks.
It's definitely related to the amount of time I sped in vtec. When I was nursing it on the bad wheel bearing, I burned almost no oil at all, and got kind of lazy about checking since it wasn't going anywhere.. Now that I'm sort of stretching the engine out again, it's back to it's old ways.

There is a fine line in that "definition." If the home is modular and designed to be placed on a foundation, than that is cool. Those homes are built with jigs and perfectly square. They are generally rock solid.
If it sits on metal frames, it is a trailer-home. Bottom line, poor investment.

Mobile homes lose value like cars and trucks. Foundation based homes appreciate.

Still some mortgage and insurance companies will not deal with either
When Bobbie and I were house shopping out in WV, we found a REALLY nice double-wide that had an awesome three car/workshop and a pretty decent lot with a pond. I wanted it BAD (mostly because of the garage) but our realtory was very much like, "
You don't want a trailer, son." It thought maybe we could buy it but plan to tear down the trailer and put up a legit house (the property was CHEAP). Realtor still said
I'm glad I listened.

This is, as far as I can tell, a completely serious robot demonstration from UC Berkley.

From: I am, wherever I say I am.

I was strictly asking about modular homes which are built onto a foundation.

Just wondering, found a site that specializes in them yesterday, but I had never heard of them.
