Well his skill level shouldn't constitute and R6. Indeed that is a "race ready" bike but why learn to ride on that? Why take the chance at damaging that bike due to rookie mistakes.

You can get the joy out of riding on much less of a machine. That bike is also not forgiving at all from mistakes you might make as a new rider. Not a bike you can pin in first gear without having the front come up and the riding position doesn't have you sitting up as much.Maybe look at a SV 650 or ZZR 600.
