Yea it could be a race bike, but Im not racing it. My stepbrother in law's first bike was an 1800cc Harley, he is doing fine. Stupid people do stupid stuff, I dont plan on it.
Brian -- Something to think about is that it may not be you doing something stupid but rather someone else doing something stupid. Some bikes are more forgiving to panicked input. With a bike, it's not always whether you are paying attention and quick enough or not -- sometimes it comes to the bikes capability of an evasive maneuver. Some of these street bikes just are not very nimble.

I am officially pissed at Chad. I don't need his horseshit. If he wants to get pissy with Brian, I am going to back Brian. That is how I'm rolling on this one and he can stick it up his ass if he don't like it.
Gracias Sir, Ross and I just thought it was funny that he posted that thread, so we went in to say Hi when we noticed him bashing the CO's. I could care less as all of the guys in there dont know us from adam, so their judgement means nothing, maybe come to a few meets then they can make fun of us all they want.

Only you guys can call me power hungry, and its nom nom nom god damn it.

George, You think it would be in my best interests to buy only a 250? I understand there is going to be a learning curve getting started on a bike, something Im going to take slow and make sure I know as much as I can before I get into any long rides or highway or night riding...

My commute consists of straight lines for about 15 minutes, I would think I could take this season easy with riding locally and then maybe by fall doing an extended ride or two.

Trust me Im scared shitless of the machine, its just something Ive wanted to do for a long long time, and Im gonna do it now.

No I don't. You will hate it after a month.

A nice used 600, would be better there is no noticable power or performance difference plus save a few grand and get really good riding gear.

I have had a lot of bikes, new and used. Early on they all got dropped at some point.

I loved my R6 on the track, but hated it on the street, very uncomfortable for riding more than a hour or so.

My VFR is way more comfortable, has more torque, I can ride it for 400+ mile days.

You should come out with my riding group after you get some miles in, we have some great routes.
