That's okay... I am nearly 100% sure it is toast but I was hoping y'all knew of some utility or something that might do the trick.

Because it is in a boot loop, there is almost nothing that can be done. I think the HD is actually damaged; it sounds bad. Makes all sorts of little clicks and pops. Reminds me of a dead or dying computer hard drive.

yes, but you are defending a building (or trying to keep them out) the more doors you open up to get to better weapons, health, etc. the greater the area to defend...
