how would open headers do that? your headers dont dump below the engine?
the one side rusted away and broke right where the collector is, so all that heat is emptying right there. So it melted the wire coating away.

the wiring to the starter was bad. they said my open header might have something to do with it. so i already have new headers at my parents house ready to go on. and i should also be able to get that rug from you when i come down, if your going to be around.
Yea.... Sure... I'll be at the Dragon next weekend but I'll be around the first weekend in May. In fact, Chad's big Fredericksburg meet is that weekend.

Yup... That'll do it.

I found out yesterday that my Jeep has a "custom" header. I have NO idea how it ended up that way but it looks like some of the pipe has been replaced with some stainless sections. Sort of a repair...

I had some work done on the exhaust a couple of years ago but I didn't realize the worked on the header, too. I think I am going to get me a nice Borla unit in the near future. The patch doesn't look so good anymore.

I wish my exhaust manifold on the S would need repair. That way I could justify a nice shiny Invidia replacement.

Wenol works great on stainless exhaust. If your header is coated it's probably a bad idea though. I'm sure it would take the coating off.

Well, if it's really rusty, it's not stainless steel. To tell if it's coated I would see if Megan Racing coats their products -- e-mail them or ask a reseller if they know.
