When I took it, the directions indicated that I should continue to smoke for the first week while I was on the half dose. I thought this was the most beneficial because I literally didn't want to smoke anymore by the end of that week.

Its an effin miracle drug. I wanted to quit so badly but I just couldn't get past the physical symptoms. Chantix minimizes those symptoms so effectively that it was a walk in the park. I actually stopped using the drug after one month and I have been 99% clean ever since that was... what? Two years ago?

Dunno about that... I mean... If your doc told you not to, I wouldn't. There is a chance they changed the guidelines or dosing.
