I may break down and get the Denon 2807 receiver for the HDMI connections. Since TrueHD and DTS-HD are decoded in the players(HD-DVD and PS3), I don't really need to wait until HDMI 1.3. If I do, I'll have a Denon 3300 AVR for sale cheap- DD, DTS, sub pre-out, 110 or 120w per channel.

Cale did you catch my post about the HT on the last page?
Id rather not spend that much... im not really going for looks here... I dont really need a shiny new one.
Ill take a black or red one in pretty much any condition, but thats alot easier said than done
and this isnt exactly the best time of year to look for one
I agree it was alot to spend, you will find used for between $1800-$2200 from what ive seen on the FS section. There was a yellow one that needed a new back window for $1000 about a month ago.
I did some more work this afternoon, I cut out the 3/4" MDF and 1/4 Hardboard as well as cut the sub mounting hole.

you can see the lines that indicate where the box is below, I'm starting to hate the left side of the box
not enough to start over though.

1/4" hardboard fits snugly around the sub, the grille cloth and trunk carpet will be glued to this.

I still need to cutout the vents, mount the amps and 12V fans then secure everything together, should be done by the end of the year hopefully
