Don't get me wrong, I think open source is a good thing, but the reality is that most of the business world runs on Microsoft.
If that want these people to actually be able to use the laptops and the skills they learn in the real world, they should be done on Microsoft software....

besides, windows is too much of a resource hog (disk space, power, etc) to be used in such an application.

It's what I use on my Mac. Runs under X11... oh and it's free
