to the Mrs. for putting together an amazing First Anniversary surprise.She set up a "private dinner" for the two of us at the place where we got married a year ago, October 29, 2005 and of course had my friends and family in on the secret.
She designed and set up this amazing table setup, with fabric draped around the table from the ceiling and tied at the corners, pumpkins set on the floor, carved like we had them carved for the wedding, then had our friend Rich plan an amazing menu and cook it up at the kitchen there at the IWLA. Rich, btw, has won great praise from both the Gazette and Washington Post for his dishes at Flanagan's Harp & Fiddle in Bethesda and used to be Dan Snyder's personal chef.
We cracked a bottle of Viansa Athena Dolcetto that we picked up in Sonoma on our honeymoon, busted out (but didn't eat) the top of our cake. Rich's desserts were too much for us to think about touching the cake.
I lit up a nice Montecristo No. 2 after dessert, which went very nicely with the Dolcetto. Rich and his girlfriend (also a good friend of ours) packed up and left us to enjoy the evening... It was great, if a little hurried since I've got a major deadline in the morning.
A little nap and I'm back at work... Tomorrow they start tearing up the subfloor, the flooring is ordered, the electrician's due in this week and I'm getting estimated on framing and drywall... We survived the first year with flying colors, bought a home and are well on our way. One happy couple.

TOOO DAMN BUSY!!! I have also been seriously under the weather for the past few days. 
I did manage to get my Cusco sway bar installed last night, though!
