That's why we use WSUS. Freebie from Microsoft and you can change all of the workstations to only auto-update from the WSUS box. Then you can choose to d/l IE7 or not.

You can also disable windows update with group policy.

Employees here are dumb as rocks, I'm still trying to figure out how they got jobs at a software company.

They are afraid to ask me stupid questions and that works out well for me.
