I was thinking more along the lines of responsibility as pertains to appliances, maintenance of utilities, etc.

yeah. a standard (county-approved, supplied?) rental contract should have all of that stuff covered.

Oh, okay. I haven't rented much in my lifetime. Kicked out, joined USMC, rented an apartment for a little bit, and then bought a house.
